Located on the second floor of the Center for Health next to A Woman’s
Place, the Center for Health Resource Library is as close as your phone
or your computer.
Our collection of over 1,000 books
and videos covers a wide array of medical subjects of interest to
consumers from exercise and good nutrition to cancer and from pregnancy
and baby care to Alzheimer’s disease. In addition to the books
and videos, the Library has a variety of newsletters and informational
pamphlets.
There also is a PC available for
searching for medical information on the Internet.
Library Hours
The Library is open from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
(closed from noon until 12:30 PM) Monday through Friday. However,
messages may be left on the Library phone (309 683-5309) and Library
e-mail (cfhlibrary@osfhealthcare.org)
is checked regularly, so that a question or request may be left 24/7.
Circulation Policies
Library
materials are checked out for four-week periods and may be renewed for
another four weeks with a phone call, as long as no one else has
specifically requested the material. If you can’t get to the
Library, please call (309) 683-5309 to arrange to have materials sent to
you. When the Library is closed materials may be returned in a
basket immediately outside the Library or at the main reception desk.
Materials may also be returned by mail. There is no special
library card required to check out materials.
Reference Services
The Library provides the services of a medical librarian to
answer your health-related questions. You can ask your questions in
person (second floor OSF Saint Francis Center for Health), by phone (309
683-5309) or by e-mail (cfhlibrary@osfhealthcare.org). You will receive
a packet of information relating to your question; most often this is
mailed to you.

Resource Library Web Site
The Resource Library’s website
http://healthinfo.osfsaintfrancis.org gives you online access to
current, reliable health-related information. The website also has
links to other OSF Healthcare resources and to the Library’s online
catalog. If you need assistance in using this site, the librarian can
help you with this, too.
Newsletter
The Resource Library publishes a
bimonthly newsletter, HealthInfo News, which includes reviews of
library material on a selected topic, a listing of new library
materials, a review of a reliable health-related website, and reviews of
children’s materials within the collection. If you would like to be on
the mailing list for this four-page newsletter, please contact the
library at (309) 683-5309.
Speaker Service
If your group or organization is looking for a speaker, an
OSF Saint Francis medical librarian is available for presentations on
finding high-quality consumer health information. These presentations
will be structured to address any special interests of the group. For
more information, please call (309) 683-5309.
